The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
