The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
