The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 So that is a tough day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
