The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
