The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
