The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
