The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
