The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 arise and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
