The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
