The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 For We have caused none but angelic powers to lord over the fire [of hell]; and We have not caused their number to be aught but a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth - to the end that they who have been granted revelation aforetime might be convinced [of the truth of this divine writ]; and that they who have attained to faith [in it] might grow yet more firm in their faith; and that [both] they who have been granted the earlier revelation and they who believe [in this one] might be freed of all doubt; and that they in whose hearts is disease and they who deny the truth outright might ask, "What does [your] God mean by this parable?" In this way God lets go astray him that wills [to go astray,] and guides aright him that wills [to be guided]. And none can comprehend thy Sustainers forces save Him alone: and all this is but a reminder to mortal man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
