The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 stay away from sins 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
