The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise up and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
