The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
