The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
