The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
