The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 arise, and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
