The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 it scorches the skin; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
