The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
