The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
