The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
