The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
