The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
