The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 it will be a hard day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
