The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
