The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
