The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he beheld, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
