The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
