The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 So that is a tough day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
