The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
