The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
