The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
