The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
