The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 it will be a hard day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 May he be condemned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
