The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
