The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
