The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 Pollution shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
