The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
