The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
