The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
