The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
