The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
