The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
