The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
