The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments purify! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made things easy for them. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 He looked (at others); 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
