The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
