Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
