Nay! By the moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
