Nay, by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
