Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
