Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
